Site promotion is essential in getting traffic to a website. 13. Free link directories:
Submit your website or blog to free link directories. While most free link directories are not worth bothering to add your site to them, there are a few high PageRanked directories that might be valuable in terms of search engine positions.

14. Search engine submissions:
Online marketing tutorials prefer to advise newbies to submit new websites to search engines like Google and Yahoo. But it takes a big amount of time till search engine spiders index submitted pages. Therefore it's much better to post an article with a backlink to your site to article directories. This way a new website will be picked up much faster by the search engines.

15. Commenting:
Post comments on blogs, articles, guestbooks while leaving your website's link in the comment. Be careful not to use this strategy for spamming. Have something to say in your comment instead of just blatantly advertising your site.

16. Auto-signatures:
Use auto-signatures in e-mail, in forum posts. Auto-signatures are a small part at the end of e-mails where the sender can insert some personal data as (company) name, address, phone number, e-mail address and URL. It is often used for commercial purposes, as well. On many message boards it is allowed to put a few lines into your auto-signature which will be displayed at the bottom of every single post you make. Include your website's link into it, possibly using keywords.

17. Starting a blog:
In case you have built a website for generating online income, it's almost a must have to start a blog in order to support the website. Create a community around your blog and you will see that if you provide interesting and valuable content, other bloggers will link back to your blog voluntarily.

18. Start a newsletter:
A newsletter is a perfect tool for building an audience of returning visitors for your site.
